Synopsis
The project “Synthetic Set of Monitoring Indicators for Portugal” consists of a dashboard of 21 indicators designed to monitor trends and provide an overview of Portugal in key areas of its social and economic development: Competitiveness, Sustainability, Quality of Life and Human Capital.
The indicator dashboard will be made available through a Power BI tool, allowing for immediate and interactive visualisation, and also in report format, as a data dissemination product with a more comprehensive and detailed approach. Whenever the data source allows, the indicators will be presented from 2005 to the most recent year, for both Portugal and the European Union.
These cross-cutting data for monitoring the state of the country will be updated regularly, and the indicator dashboard will be reviewed annually.
Objectives
- Reach consensus on a summary panel of indicators for monitoring the country;
- Monitor, in a cross-cutting and synthetic manner, Portugal’s progress in strategic domains of government action;
- Support informed, data-driven political decision-making through cross-cutting monitoring tools.
Duration
The project began in 2025 and is ongoing. The synthetic set of 21 indicators will be reviewed annually, and the information made available in the monitoring system will be updated on a regular basis.
